Uday Devgan, MD, is in private practice specializing in cataract and refractive surgery at Devgan Eye Surgery in Los Angeles and is a partner at Specialty Surgical Center in Beverly Hills, California.
Dr. Devgan is also passionate about teaching ocular surgery—particularly cataract surgery—to the next generation of ophthalmologists. He previously served as a full Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA School of Medicine, as well as Chief of Ophthalmology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. He has been actively involved in resident surgical training for more than two decades. Dr. Devgan is honored to have received the most Surgical Professor Teaching Awards (five times) in the history of UCLA Ophthalmology. He continues to mentor former residents beyond their formal training and is proud to have directly guided nearly 200 residents through thousands of ocular surgeries.
Recognized as one of the top key opinion leaders in ophthalmology, Dr. Devgan has taught ocular surgery in more than 60 countries to tens of thousands of ophthalmologists. He runs CataractCoach.com, which features over 2,500 teaching videos and articles, boasts more than 100,000 subscribers, and has accumulated over 50 million views across all platforms. He also developed a complete cataract surgery curriculum, a free surgical textbook, and currently hosts the top-rated podcast in ophthalmology. He has helped launch a sister site, RetinaRounds.com, which mirrors the success of CataractCoach for topics related to the posterior segment of the eye.
Dr. Devgan contributes regularly to multiple ophthalmic journals, including a long-running monthly feature, Back to Basics, in Ocular Surgery News, which has been distributed to 80,000 ophthalmologists worldwide for the past twenty years.
