Dr. Tyler Berger, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who joined Glaucoma-Cataract Consultants in 2025. He specializes in cataract surgery and the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. He has extensive experience with glaucoma lasers, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and complex surgical glaucoma cases.
A native of Lower Burrell, PA, Dr. Berger graduated summa cum laude from Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, where he also competed in NCAA Division II wrestling. He earned his medical degree from the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, graduating in the top 10% of his class. After completing a medical internship at Allegheny General Hospital, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Berger went on to complete a medical and surgical glaucoma fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, gaining advanced training in complex cataract surgery, iris reconstruction, and intraocular lens fixation. Following his fellowship, he joined the Cincinnati Eye Institute, where he quickly became one of the practice’s highest-volume glaucoma surgeons and was entrusted by other ophthalmologists as a primary referral point for the most challenging surgical cases.
Dr. Berger’s dedication to learning and professional development has earned him numerous accolades, including election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Most Outstanding Surgeon Award during his residency, and the Alan and Karen Zalta Research Award for clinical research. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at both regional and national conferences.
In his free time, Dr. Berger enjoys golf, hiking, traveling, spending time with family, and fly fishing whenever possible.
